Many of you may have noticed a lot of rare french stuff being posted here lately from a user called Hughrunic. Hugh where the drummer of the french band Rünic who where active in the late 80's. Rünic where from Lyon, Rhône-Alpes and released a couple of demos between 1988-1989, I got Hugh's permission to put them up here so you all can check them out. Enjoy!.

Info on Rünic:
Late 1987 in Lyon, The drummer Hugh places an advertisement in the local to seek a band. Franck, bassist (and graphic designer - also the creator of all Runic's artwork/covers), responds. Hugh and Franck begins to form a sound and image for the project. As they both where fans of role playing and heroic fantasy, they opt for a music-style that was heavy and epic. They start looking for guitarists, Janfi and JC arrived shortly thereafter.

In a room of the 9th district of Lyon, Rünic where working several months to develop a directory that would be convincing. Before the summer of 1988, Flo was recruited on vocals and in September Runic performs their first concert in a small space in Lyonnaise. After some time in the studio the band finished their first demo "Remember."

The group would give two more concerts in Lyons in early 1989 before Flo later left the group to be replaced by Paul. Paul was the former drummer of the US band XYZ and had participated in the recording of the group's debut EP. Two concerts of this new formation are given in the fall of 1989 and
a second demo "Heros" are recorded. Unfortunately, changing the singer would be a big change in their music and the original spirit goes away. The band would broke up permanently by the end of 1989. - Written by Hugh (in French!, this is just a translation)

More info about Rünic can be found at their Official Myspace Page.

The 1980 demo from Capharnaum, the same band who later released the self-titled 7" (aka We Shall Wait Till You Die) single in 1981 and full-lenght album in 1983. The demo wasn't anything in my taste to bad, but maybe it could of interest to someone out there. Thanks Hughrunic.

Kröm Thunder - Attack Directe (1995)

Artist: Kröm Thunder
Release: Attack Directe, 1995
Genre: Speed Metal
Country: France
Bitrate: 320kbps

Hell fuck yes! some damn great french speed metal from an obscure band called "Kröm Thunder", how I love those metal döts, bands using them always seems to turn out to be badass!. Anyway the album was released on cassette only and contains 11 blasting tracks of pure traiditional speed metal in the vein of Vulcain, Motörhead and Tank. Although the album was released in 1995 the band have actually celabrated over 25 years of existence (they were formed in 1983) and you can by far hear that this band still have the 80's running in their veins, no modern 90's production sound here. Hail Kröm Thunder and a very big thank to METALFRANC who ripped and shared this obscure jewel exclusively for the blog, you rule mate!.

Additional Info delivered by metalfranc:
The band was formed in St Denis (region of Paris).
